In June, 2022, I decided to play with pastels, and created my second pastel drawing ever, named The Chemical Sunset 🙂 The Chemical Sunset was birthed during a tumultuous time in my life, and he shows a very lovely side of my psyche; one full of beautiful colors, love, and joy that can bubble up even when facing challenging feelings 🙂

Story of Moon Maiden
Moon Maiden is made with colored pencils. I helped her enter existence when I was going through my first really intense existential challenge, in December, 2018. During this time, I distinctly remember feeling like I was an astronaut venturing the galaxies, in search of Self-Connection, listening to a lot of Pogo (some of his art and music inspired this piece), feeling deeply lost. It was the first time in my life I dove into and faced the void within I, with no employment and no groups I participated with, I chose to see who I was without a group of others and without labor assigned to I. It was a time I discovered much about I's psyche. It was then that I also discovered how to navigate existential challenges with loving support from family, friends, art, and from books like, Man's Search for Meaning (by Viktor Frankl), Memories, Dreams, Reflections (by Carl Jung), and I began engaging with evolution supporters who introduced I to Jungian versions of Active Imagination and Dream Analysis. In other words, I consciously chose to face my unconscious the first time in my life, and Moon Maiden was one of the beings I saw and gave form to, as I explored my unconscious and the depths within Self :)

Story of Artist Tree
I birthed Artist Tree in August of 2022 with support from colored pencils 🙂 I had faced very difficult internal challenges in 2021, 2022, and 2023, and my sense of Artist Tree is that he depicts aspects of Self who were once submerged in my subconscious as now surfacing into my consciousness. As one might infer by the nail in the thumb of the submerged masculine figure, it hasn't been a very easy process. He also signals to my ego and conscious parts of my psyche that art and artistry is a very important part of I's Self Growth. Artist Tree is a sign of my Self Growth 🙂

Story of The Mindweaver
I began drawing the skeleton of The Mindweaver in 2017 and left her blank or uncolored until December of 2018. As I colored in her form, I was surprised at the colors she chose: a multicolored ensemble, much different than a simple earth-tone color palette I had initially imagined. Birthing her and fulfilling her colors helped I through the existential challenges I was going through at the time; the same challenges during which I birthed Moon Maiden 🙂 I colored The Mindweaver with the help of colored pencils 🙂
